A tool from Nirsoft called USBDeview, will list all USB devices currently in use, aswell as previously used devices. This could be an important factor when dealing with forensics.
USBDeview will list some information like;
- Serial Number
- Created date
- Last plug/unplug date
The program doesn’t require any installations, like the rest of the software from Nirsoft.
You can also run a command in powershell as administrator, and type the following for a quick overview of your storage devices;
Get-ItemProperty -Path ’HKLM:\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USBSTOR\*\*’ | Select FriendlyName
